Actor Kevin Spacey arrives at Southwark Crown Court in London, June 30, 2023.

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey enjoys treating other men, a prosecutor told jurors at his trial on Friday (local time) in a London court.

Spacey is “a man who has no respect for personal boundaries or space, a man who seems to enjoy making others feel powerless and uncomfortable — a sexual harasser,” Christine Agnew said in her opening statement. “His favorite method is to brutally beat other men.”

The four men who accused Spacey of sexual assault did not know each other, but all “had the misfortune to attract” his attention, he said.

Spacey, 63, has pleaded not guilty to a dozen charges including sexual assault, indecent assault and inducing sexual intercourse without consent.

The cases include men who are now in their 30s or 40s and from 2001 to 2013. This includes the ten years that Spacey lived in Britain and served as artistic director at the Old Vic Theater until 2015.

The case contains seven counts against one person and five counts against three others. Most of these cases involve multiple incidents of alleged rape or rape.

The lawsuit alleges that the actions were illegal and that Spacey “didn’t believe” the men agreed.

The two-time Academy Award winner arrived at the courthouse by car just over two hours early. He wore spectacles and a gray suit, white shirt and gold tie.

He entered the courtroom with a large binder of documents in his hand. Sitting down behind his lawyer, he took his reading glasses out of his coat pocket and began flipping through the pages.

As the judge took the bench, Spacey entered the dock, where he sat behind a window in the middle of a packed courtroom. A guard sat in the corner of the room.

The actor is known in court by his full name, Kevin Spacey Fowler.

A jury of nine men and five women, including two alternates, will decide his fate during a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court.

Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has left the Old Bailey after pleading guilty to rape charges in the UK – which he denies.

“I’m sure the defendant will be pleased to know that many of you will know his name or have seen his videos,” Justice Mark Wall said Wednesday to potential jurors during a summary decision.

Spacey is free on bail. He has homes in London and the US.

Spacey’s expectations are high. A conviction could land him in prison while an acquittal would allow him to return to work.

“There are people right now who are willing to hire me as soon as I am acquitted in London,” Spacey said in an interview this month in Germany’s Zeit magazine.

Spacey became one of the most popular actors of the 1990s, starring in films including “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “LA Confidential”.

He has received several prestigious awards for theatre, silver screen and television. He won an Academy Award for supporting actor in “The Usual Suspects” in 1995 and an Oscar for best actor in the film “American Beauty” in 1999.

Spacey recently had his first film role in several years, appearing in 2022 in the Italian director Franco Nero’s “The Man Who Pulled God,” and playing the late Croatian President Franjo Tudjman in the biopic “Once Upon a Time in Croatia.” He also stars in the unreleased US film “Peter Five Eight”.
