Double Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, whose illustrious career was marred by sexual assault, is on trial in London tonight, accused of assaulting four men in Britain.

What are they being accused of?
Spacey, 63, faces a dozen charges, including rape, indecent assault and inducing sexual intercourse.
The actor, who was accused by his full name of Kevin Spacey Fowler, pleaded not guilty to all 12 charges, which relate to events that occurred between 2001 and 2013.

During the initial hearing, Spacey’s lawyer said the actor “vehemently denies” the allegations. The lawyer said Spacey will face a UK court to prove his innocence and “get on with his life”.
His trial before a jury at Southwark Crown Court will open on Wednesday (local time) and is expected to last four weeks.
Why is this case in Britain?
Spacey spent more than a decade living in Britain, where he was artistic director of the Old Vic Theater from 2004 to 2015. He was a high-profile figure in London, starring in productions including William Shakespeare’s Richard III and David Mamet’s Speed-the-Lima. , and host fundraising events for the 200-year-old star.
Spacey was questioned by British police in 2019 about allegations that he had assaulted several men. He was indicted in May 2022 on five charges against three alleged victims. Seven more charges, all against a fourth person, were added in November.

What is the future for Spacey?
